There are so many great products to buy in Turks and Caicos, as well as good deals, that it’s guaranteed that you will be tempted to shop. On Providenciales shops are usually located in shopping plazas, which have from 3 to 25 different stores. Boutiques are to be found island-wide with the most concentrated in the Grace Bay area of Providenciales at Caicos Café Plaza, La Petite Place, Ports of Call, Regent Village and The Saltmills. Centrally located are Graceway Plaza and Central Square, where you can purchase souvenirs as well as colourful beachwear, designer clothing and accessories, exquisite pieces of art and even sportswear among other items. In addition to the fabulous boutiques and gift shops you’ll find at most major resorts and hotels, there are also a wide variety of independent stores located across the island.

Most of these stores are within walking distance in Grace Bay.

Duty-free shopping

 
There is also duty-free shopping, as there are no sales or luxury taxes. Items such as jewelry, watches, cameras, perfumes, crystal, china, cigars and liquor are available to US and Canadian residents duty-free at select locations. Duty-Free items are also available at the airport departure lounge.

In addition to the great savings in duty-free items, US residents may return home with up to $600 worth of purchases per person at no duty, while Canadians are allowed duty-free purchases up to $500 per person after a seven-day stay and up to $200 after a two-day stay. TURKS & CAICOS ISLAND MADE

 
Art work produced by local and Caribbean artists such as paintings, prints, metal-work and wood carvings can be found in abundance at art galleries and retail stores. Exquisite jewelry crafted from conch shells and the rare conch pearls set into necklaces, are also available. Numerous fine quality straw and palm woven products such as baskets, hats, bags and bowls can be found on all of the islands. Unique hand made dolls and reversible dolls are made locally crafted from bright Caribbean fabrics. Be sure to pick-up a one-of-a-kind hand painted shirt - a work of art in and of themselves!

Shoppers can also get a deal on a selection of CDs with recordings by local musicians, as well as local video productions.

Shoppers are advised not to buy handicrafts made from coral or sea turtle, as both of these are endangered, and products made from them are banned in many countries.

For stamp collectors, a visit to the Philatelic Bureau in Grand Turk should not be missed. The brightly colored stamps are highly valued across the world.
